Santo André

A reserve of lagoons, dunes and pine forest

Beyond the beach, Santo André holds one of the region's most important natural spots: the Santo André and Sancha Lagoons Nature Reserve. Glamping, water sports on the lagoon and a distinctive local cuisine have been drawing more visitors every year — without changing the scale of the town.

Santiago do Cacém

The municipal capital, fifteen minutes inland

Santiago do Cacém is the capital of one of the largest municipalities in the country and holds the supermarkets, schools, hospital, museums and train and bus stations that serve daily life. A footnote of history: the first car trip ever made on Portuguese soil, in 1895, ended in Santiago do Cacém — and crossed Santo André on the way.

Blue Coast

Troia, Comporta, Melides — and now Santo André

Troia and Comporta have been a prime destination for the Portuguese elite and foreign buyers for years. That demand is now extending south along the same coastline: Carvalhal beach, Pego beach, Brejos da Carregueira, Aberta Nova beach, Melides — and Santo André, which is going through the valorisation Comporta went through decades ago.

Sines

One of Europe's fifteen largest ports, 23 km away

The Port of Sines is the most important Portuguese port and a point of international investment, with companies such as Repsol Polímeros, PSA Sines and Euroresinas around it. The region has a documented shortage of upscale housing for the senior staff these companies bring in — Pine Tree Villas sits 23 km away.
